Today it is very common to be out of the office, with only your phone. But it’s difficult to check and reply to your emails if you’re using Lotus Notes mail.
The My Notes App from Inexika can make this situation a lot easier!
There is actually already a great application for this, IBM Notes Traveler, which provides instant access to Notes mail and other Notes applications.
But not all users of Notes can enjoy this solution. First, it requires IBM Domino server of version 8 or higher (but sometimes companies are reluctant to upgrade), and, in addition, it requires deployment and maintenance by corporate administrator.
Therefore, the My Notes App may become a good replacement. Moreover, in addition to Traveler capabilities, it has some nice features to offer.
Let’s have a look at the key features of the My Notes App.
1) Instant access via Internet to standard IBM Notes applications from a mobile phone.
It is possible to access not only personal mailboxes and databases, but also shared ones, public address books, Domino directories, etc.
My Notes offers a full-text search inside a mail database on the server, not only through messages on your phone.
There are plans to support such databases as Calendar, To Do’s, Document Library, Discussion / Forum and TeamRoom.
2) No need to be an IT-expert to start using the My Notes App.
The application does not use corporate servers and, thus, you do not need to ask for help from your IT staff at work. To start using it, all you need to have is your Notes client installed on your computer and your phone.
Download and install the desktop app, depending on your operating system (Linux, Mac OS X or Windows) and have it connected to IBM Notes. Then, install My Notes on your phone (via App Store or Google Play). Scan QR code from your phone to connect it to your desktop, and you’re all set!
3) Work with mail from any place with Internet connection
My Notes doesn’t use one server to connect all mobile devices to it (traditional approach), but a cloud of servers all over the world connected to users’ desktops. This way it ensures the best connection speed possible – the My Notes App selects a server nearest to a user’s location.
The architecture overview is shown on the diagrams below: (Click image to zoom in)
All data transfers are extremely secure – all traffic is strongly encrypted, so that even My Notes servers cannot decrypt the data. Also, no data is stored on the servers – which further minimises any risk.
The fully functional version of My Notes Desktop is available to download for free, directly from the website, and mobile clients can be downloaded via the App Store or Google Play, also for free.
To connect over the Internet and use My Notes cloud, an in-app subscription will be required – the app will prompt you for this.
