LinkedIn Intro has just launched over the last two days, adding a new element to the everyday email. Intro is a very simple feature which links LinkedIn with your iPhone email app. When you receive an email, the senders LinkedIn profile will appear at the top. The idea is that Intro will solve the confusion when you receive an email from a new person, hence the name ‘Intro’.
LinkedIn Intro displays the senders profile and if you tap – the drop down menu will display a summary of the person, including how you are connected on LinkedIn as well as allowing you to visit their profile or any links that they might have.
LinkedIn has put a lot of emphasis on mobile lately, this new feature is great but not incredibly useful in my opinion. According to LinkedIn, Intro allows you to craft the perfect response because it gives you everything you need to know about the person.
Essentially, LinkedIn Intro is an interactive email signature but in the control of the receiver in terms of what they can see, it might be time to tidy up that LinkedIn profile!
Currently Intro only supports Gmail, Google Apps, Yahoo! Mail, AOL Mail, and iCloud.
