Common Problems and Solutions

Q: I've added a user to the group but they don't get a signature appended
A: There are several reasons for a user not getting a signature appended. (See Troubleshooting missing signatures).

Q: I'm having difficulty with laying out the signature using tables.
A: Notes is poor at rendering tables when it converts from rich text to HTML. For best results use an imported HTML File. (See Use HTML File).

Q: My notes server running Domino 6.02 for Windows has frozen after installing Crossware Mail Signature.
A: This is probably a coincidence. Please see the instructions for uninstalling the product to isolate this as the cause. Try renaming log.nsf to log.old and see if this helps. If so, it was a corrupt log file which was probably the cause of the issue.

Q: When installing, I get part way through and then an error message 'Failed to launch file' appears. What is wrong ?
A: Your windows file associations are not correct. You need to ensure that Windows associates NSF files with IBM Lotus Notes.

Q: How do I check that the Unicode Libraries are installed on AS400/iSeries ?
A: Open the Licenced Programs menu and check that 'Option 39' is installed. For a more detailed description see here AS400 Unicode Libraries

Q: Why do my SMTP e-mail signatures contain plain text with attachments ?
A: Your SMTP e-mail is sent as rich text and the server converts it to plain text for transport over the internet. For a more detailed description see here Rich Text SMTP e-mails

Q: Why do I get the error 'Failed to Launch File' ?
A: The installer attempts to run a '.nsf' file and windows does not know how to handle it. See Failed to Launch File Error

Q: Why are my signatures on internal e-mails coming out as plain text ?
A: The most likely cause of this is the setting of Mail Preferences on the person, server document or the Notes client (Format for emails?)

Q: Why do internal users receive emails with External Only sub signatures?
A: The most likely cause of this is that there are a mixture of internal and external recipients Internal-External Sub Signatures
